After you are finished with recording an Action, you may wish to apply the action on an entire directory or folder of files. You can do this by performing a batch processing. Make sure that while testing batch process always test on a directory or folder with smaller number of files, to confirm correctness. Batch processing is one of the Automation feature included in the Automate submenu under the File menu.

Creating A Batch

1. Choose Automate from the File menu; then select Batch from the submenu to display the Batch dialog ue box.

2. Choose a Set and an Action from the set to play on the batch of files. 3. Choose Folder from the Source pull down menu.

4. Select a source folder by clicking on the Choose button. Check the Override Action "Open" Commands. Check the Include All Subfolders check box to perform the batch on files that are located in folders within the selected folders.

5. Choose Folder from the Destination pull down menu and select the target directory for your batched files. If you choose the None option then the files in the target folder remain open in Photoshop after the action is complete. If you choose Save and Close then the files are saved over the original and then closed.

6. Click on the check box Override Action "Save In" Commands to make sure that the files are saved in the directory.

7. Choose Log Errors To File and click the Save As button. Then you specify a name for the error log if you want to record errors that happen during the batch in text file.

8.Click OK to begin the batch processing the files.
