Client Side Image Map![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
The user defines an imagemap's region within the Web page. When the user clicks somewhere on the imagemap, the browser looks up the region in the HTML file, determines the associated URL, and opens that URL. The browser doesn't communicate with the Web server at all. Advantages of client side image maps Client side image maps do not need processing from your server to resolve the destination of a link based on the cursor coordinates, reducing the number of transactions between a Web browser and a Web server. Client side image maps can be created and tested locally without requiring a server. Client side image maps can be accessed with other protocols other than HTTP. Client side image maps are very portable since they are not server dependent.
