This server takes a platform independent approach by using the Java Programming language. The main feature of this is that it is an open source project i.e. it not only acts as an application server but with this we can also see source code of a particular program.
This means that it enables the instantiation of other applications and serves them out to the end client through a traditional Web sever such as Apache or Netscape and also it is capable of retrieving XML source code and using a Java based parser and processor for presentation and output. Application Framework The main purpose of development of Enhydra centers on application Framework, a servlet runtime environment that manages the common services necessary to support N tier applications. multiservor The multiserver acts as a manager for the other servlets that comprises the Enhydra system including the Application Framework servlet. This supports debugging and monitoring support at the system level. XMLC XML Compiler, was created to help both the designer and the developer manage the transition between application logic and the presentation layer in a Web Site. XMLC views HTML files as XML documents, recomposing them internally into hierarical view of Java classes. JDDI The Java Dynamic Data Interchange (JDDI) provides server sides solution to dynamic HTML. The interoperability issues found between popular Web browsers are much reduced with the help of JDDL JDDI is fully integrated into application framework. DODS The Enhydra Data Object Design Sutio(DODS) takes the mystery out of working between your applications and relational database content. Easy to use dialogs helps the user much more and DODS can also generate the Java source code to be used within the Application Framework. App Wizard This allows the developers to quickly generate a new source tree for a simple Enhydra Web application.
