Advanced Packet Switched Technology or 3G It is the third generation wireless technology that uses advanced packet switching technology to transmit data (at the rate of 384 kbps) and video images.

Analog Communication or 1G It is the first generation of wireless technology in which voice waves are transmitted to the receiver of a wireless device, where the waves are read, and amplified to produce the sound through the speaker, resulting in communication.

Asymmetric Cryptography It is method of encryption which uses public key for encrypting and private key for decrypting data.

Authentication It is the process in which cipher systems verify the identity of the person trying to access a message and determine whether he is authorized for the same.

Baltimore It is the PKI system for authentication and digital signatures. It is a unique system that can be used as in house software, outsourced managed service or a combination of both.

Bandwidth The amount of data that can be transmitted over a communication link or network per unit of time, generally measured in bits per second.

Basic Internet Banking This type of service enables customers to open new accounts, check account balances and pay utility bills.

Biometric Technology The application of biometrics for validating an individual's identity is called biometric technology.

Biometrics The study of the measurable biological characters such as finger prints of human beings is called biometrics.

Business to Business (B2B) It refers to all the transactions between businesses (eg. a company buying products and services from a supplier). B2B software enables companies to carry out online transactions with suppliers, partners and customers by integrating their business processes.

Business to Consumers (B2C) It refers to all the transactions between business and its individual customers (eg. online retail stores and online financial services). B2C software enables companies to automate all their business processes and provide easy interface to users.

Commodity Exchanges It is an organized exchange or a trading facility that focuses on buying and selling of commodities. They marked the first phase in the evolution of e marketplace.

Commodity Suppliers (CS) They produce components and subassemblies in huge quantities and offer them at cheaper rates to requesting companies.

Communication Devices They provide the medium for transmission of data including multimedia, video conferencing, 3D graphics, movies, interactive TV, teleconferencing, etc.
