Open Profiles Standards (OPS) The OPS has in built privacy features that facilitate the secure exchange of profile information between the individual and the web site. This project is also termed as the P3 project (Platform for Privacy Preferences).

Open System The description and specifications of the architecture of the communication system are published and freely available.

Private Exchange Private exchanges are owned by companies and used by them to conduct transactions with their customers and suppliers.

Private Key It is a special decryption key known only to the receiver of a message.

Production Goods They are the goods purchased by an organization for the purpose of processing them and selling them to customers.

Protocol Layering Instead of having a separate protocol for resolving each problem that occurs in packed based data communication, a protocol with multiple layers is used to deal with all the problems. This process is called protocol layering.

Public Exchange Public exchanges are owned by the industry consortia or individual investors which can be used by any company on payment of a certain fee.

Public Key Infrastructure((IPKI) It is an online infrastructure that uses digital signatures, digital certificates and secure channels to secure applications, communications and transactions.

Public Key It is a key used by people to encrypt the messages that can be decrypted by a special key (private key) known only to the receiver intended to receive the message.

Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) It is a storage system that improves the availability of data and the performance of the system.

Reintermediation It is a convergence strategy in which suppliers increase the number of intermediaries specialized in various functions in order to create superior value proposition for buyers.

Reliability It measures the probability of occurrences of failures during the processing of services.

Remote Procedure Call (RPC) It invokes a function which is executed on remotely located servers.

Responsive Supply Chains These enable organizations to check material availability, assign delivery dates and make deliveries on that date.

Retail Management System (RMS) The information system that is used by vendors, distributors, outsourcers, partners and resellers to collect, aggregate and analyze data from various retail outlets and use the information to improve their business efficiency.

Strategic Service Partners (SSP) They are a structured form of outsourcers who enable companies outsource their pipeline business processes like manufacturing, warehousing and logistics and integrate with customers and third party service providers.

Strategic Supplier Relationship It refers to relationship between a company and its suppliers of key components crucial for its manufacturing process.

Supply Chain Replenishment It involves aligning the real time demand of a particular business with its suppliers and partners so as to improve customer service and enhance customer satisfaction.

Symmetric Key Encryption or Conventional Cryptography It is a method of encryption which uses only one key for encrypting and decrypting the data. It is also called Private Key Cryptography or Single Key Cryptography.

System Administration Tool It manages the entire network and systems in order to help ERP application work effectively. It manages inventory and assets, configures software, modifies applications when needed, and distributes software.

Tapping It is a process in which a company offers quality products and services to existing customers so that its business grows through word of mouth rather than spending on advertisements and other methods of promotion.
