Heterogeneous Data Access

Heterogeneous distributed database correlate information from various data sources. For example, a distributed database system might support an application that must access database managed by Oracle Server and foreign systems such as IBM's DB2. Oracle8's new Heterogeneous Services allows database applications to access a foreign data system just as though it was a local Oracle8 server.
