Image maps are images in HTML documents that have clickable regions, called hotspots, on the Web pages with hyperlink associations. When the user places the cursor over these hotspots, the cursor changes its appearance. Using image maps is easier for the user to understand than text links because a picture is equal to thousand words. Image. maps can be split in to two types, viz., ClientServer Image maps and Server Side Image maps.
